Further responsibilities include:

  • Help to define and refine what it will take for the new Virgin Australia to be successful, how we best position ourselves for our guests and how we will measure up against the competition
  • Approach unique business challenges in a strategic, focused way
  • Support in the delivery of major transformational initiatives
  • Provide ad-hoc decision support in high stakes, high priority business decisions
  • Apply critical strategic thinking to inform important short, medium and long-term decisions
  • Support initiative prioritisation within the team and broader organisation
  • Analysis of large datasets, and developing slide decks that synthesize key information to leadership teams
  • Construct senior management/executive level presentation materials
  • Provide thought leadership for projects in the organisation
  • Support the application of robust financial analysis, including airline operating economics, to inform strategic opportunities
  • Communicate succinctly and effectively across all levels, influencing key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to drive strategic objectives
  • Help embed the new organisational strategy and support in the continued strategy development efforts, staying on top of the rapidly changing landscape
  • Working with the transformation team to lead the company transformation program, and ideation of strategic, innovative, and cross functional projects.


You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commercial or engineering. A Master’s level degree/ MBA is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience within a reputable management consulting firm in a Strategy focused team, or extensive experience in an inhouse Corporate Strategy role (ideally within aviation)
  • Proven experience shaping the strategy for large, strategic/transformational projects
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to build out complex models and analyse large, complex datasets
  • Track record of delivering key insights and making impactful decisions
  • Possess practical understanding of commercial operations and financial management
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to shape decision making processes and collaborate with other teams
  • Leadership experience and the ability to build a strong reputation internally
  • An understanding of aviation economics and success drivers is highly advantageous
